Today we dicussed SAMR and TPACK Models for technology integration to enhance learning in classrooms. The SAMR model describes how technology can be integrated to enhance and transform learning experiences. Subtitution and augmentation practices use technology as a tool to enhance learning experiences. Content and products have little to no function change or improvement. Modification and redefinition transform learning experineces by using technology to significantly adapt and redesign content and products. Learners are able to collaborate seamlessly, share documents, and complete unique demonstrations of learning while simultaneously developing technological skills, and allowing for higher order thinking.
TPACK describes how content and pedagogical knowledge can be integrated with educational technologies in meaningful ways. In TPACK, there are three overarching “knowledges”: Technological, Pedagogical, and Content. Technological knowledge refers to an educators ability to integrate techonology in the classroom to provide new insights and opportunities for learners. Pedagogical knowledge refers to how your teaching practices and beliefs and an educator facilitate successful learning environments. Content knowledge refers to what you know about the areas you teach. Below is a graphic I found from www.schoology.com
